Behind the numbers

Enter the combined engine fuel burn at your chosen speed. With a boat selected, fuel burn updates within its tested speed range. In manual mode, update fuel burn whenever you change speed.

Total distance = one-way distance × 1 or 2
Time = total distance ÷ speed
Fuel = time × hourly fuel burn
Fuel cost = fuel × price per litre
Cost per mile = hourly fuel burn ÷ speed × price
What does total cost include?

The fuel expected to be consumed on the one-way or round trip. Berthing, maintenance, rental, fees and food are excluded. It does not calculate how much to refuel: that depends on what is already on board.

Can I depart with exactly this amount of fuel?

The result is an estimate of consumption, not a safe departure fuel quantity. Real conditions and unexpected events can increase fuel use; plan safety fuel separately.

Why can actual fuel use differ?

Wind, waves, currents, loading, hull condition and engine RPM can change speed and fuel use. No live data is consulted.
